Twin Falls Church To Screen “Through My Eyes” Documentary

On Wednesday February 8th from 7:00-8:30 pm, The Twin Falls First United Methodist Church will present a special free screening of the 2009 documentary film, Through My Eyes.

Produced by The Gay Christian Network, this 46 minute documentary film looks at life through the eyes of young Christians who wrestle with what to do when they discover themselves to be gay.

Over two dozen young Christians agreed to share their private feelings, struggles, and experiences on camera. All of them have a personal stake in the debate. All of them hoped that their stories might make a difference.

The film has been widely praised by all sides as an eye-opening look at what it’s like to be a gay Christian in today’s world.

Facilitator Phillip Grover says the screening is part of a larger plan to expand the church’s outreach to the LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) community. “Last fall, after screening the award winning documentary, For the Bible Tells Me So,” and an extended study of the issues raised, many of us felt that it was time to reach out to the LGBTQIA community and let them know that not only do its members have the support of many of us at Twin Falls First United Methodist Church in their personal struggles, but we also felt the need to lend our voices to the ongoing conversation regarding sexual orientation and gender identity happening within the Magic Valley. It’s our hope that no matter where one stands on the issues, through activities like the Through My Eyes screening we are able to better understand our LGBTQIA friends, relatives, neighbors and ourselves.”

A short discussion will follow the screening.
