Second Class Citizens: Filmmaker Plans to Document Struggle For Gay Rights

If you haven’t seen the trailer for filmmaker Ryan James Yezak‘s planned documentary on the struggle for gay rights in the U.S. yet, you are probably one of the few on Facebook that hasn’t.

The trailer, uploaded to YouTube on the 16th of January, has already garnered some 417,000 hits and is still making its way through the blogosphere and social media sites.

Yezak put  the video together in hopes of raising funding for a larger project he is calling,”Second Class Citizens.”

Yezak tells Chron.com that, “A second class citizen is defined as a person whose rights and opportunities are treated as less important than those of other people in the same society. There are many areas in which gays, lesbians, & bisexual’s do not have the same rights & opportunities as others in society. We must change this now.”

Yezak, who’s previous work includes an elaborates send ups of Katy Perry’s “California Girls” and Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World” videos, has opened a Kickstarter page to raise funds to produce the film.

He is soliciting donations ranging from $5.00 to $10,000.00, with premiums given at each level.  If you’ve ever wanted to help fund a film project, be sure to visit Yezak’s page.
