Jack O’ Lanterns For Equality: Add The Words, Idaho Announces Pumpkin Carving Contest

Idaho’s Add the Words, Idaho campaign is having a Statewide pumpkin carving contest.  According to a press release,” entrants need only send their name and town along with a photo of their Add the Words themed pumpkins or creative Halloween decorations that include the phrase “Add the Words.”

Add the Words will display entries on its web site, Facebook and in other media and will offer $75 in Downtown Boise shopping gift cards as the first place prize and Add the Words T-shirts for the second and third place prizes.

Contest entries are due by THIS Sunday October 30th at 4 p.m. Participants can email photos of pumpkin carvings or decorations to addthewords@gmail.com or can bring pumpkins to the Idaho Statehouse a 8 p.m. where Add the Words volunteers will gather with their pumpkins telling the Idaho legislature it is time to Add the Words to include gay and transgender people in Idaho’s human rights act to address discrimination in employment housing and education.

The public is invited to join Add the Words on the steps at 8 p.m. for hot cocoa and a chance to write sticky note messages or just enjoy the pumpkin display.

Add the Words, Idaho is a public education and legislative issue campaign encouraging Idahoans to send sticky notes to legislators supporting their gay and transgender friends by texting or emailing a 20 word message along with their name and home town to addthewordssticky@gmail.com  20 word messages can also be texted to 208 724-1761.
